Write Down Your Questions

There is NO way you will remember to ask all the questions you have in mind now.  The time to prepare for this conference is BEFORE your arrival.  Get a note pad and start assembling your questions now.  There will be plenty of GMA representatives to answer your questions.  If any of the questions you have could be better answered with an illustration, bring it.  In fact, bringing pictures of your equipment would also be of benefit to you.  You may have a part on your equipment that is giving you problems.  How much easier would it be to have a question answered, if you had a photo to show a GMA representative?  Remember, A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!

Share Your Experiences

OK, now you have assembled your questions on a note pad that you are bringing with you.  Now share your experiences.  You may have a question that a colleague at another newspaper may have an answer for.  It does not necessarily have to be a GMA representative that you get an answer from. Also, share your knowledge with your colleagues.  Show then your photos.  Share your tips.  Don't be shy.  Remember, YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE!

Bring Your Business Cards

It is much easier for someone to remember who you are if you hand them a business card.  They will definitely appreciate this gesture.  In fact, many people these days carry PDA's.  Beaming business cards is getting very popular.  If you have a PDA, bring it.  Also, the GMA representative will appreciate this gesture as well.  Here's another tip.  When you hand out your business card to a person that you are trying to get an answer from, you should write down the question on the business card before forwarding the card.
